Hello and welcome, dear author!

Thank you so much for writing for me this year! I've put a few details and suggestions for my requested fandoms here, which may be helpful if (like me) you prefer a little guidance to start you off. But don't worry if you have an idea that doesn't match any of my suggestions, as I will almost certainly enjoy it. Also, I like treats!

Firstly, my DO NOT WANTs:
- No graphic sex, please! I'd prefer the rating to not go above an M.
- No rape/non-con, either seen or implied
- No incest
- No unhappy endings - I'd prefer the story to finish on at least a hopeful note

SCHOLOMANCE
Nominated characters: Gwen Higgins

I've asked for a story about Gwen because she fascinates me in so many ways. I am certain that if I had been through everything she had - Scholomance, escaping in such as awful way, and then her lover's family wanting to kill her newborn daughter - I would be a seething mess of rage and bitter resentment. But Gwen seems to have channelled it all into love and kindness and being a good person. Was she always like that? She must have been pretty idealistic at school, but was it in the same way?

Other characters are of course optional, but I'd enjoy seeing a bit of her post-series interactions with the other side of El's family. Even with the ultimate kindness and love it must have been tempting for her to say a few pointed things about "false prophecies" and "making me think you were going to kill my daughter" and such-like. Or maybe it was all very polite over a cup of chai.

And, honestly, what did El look like from her Gwen's POV while growing up? We know El's view on how people saw her, but what were Gwen's thoughts on it all?

Canon-levels of sexual description are ok for this fandom, which would probably be up to an M rating on Ao3.

SONG OF THE LIONESS
Nominated characters: Alexander of Tirragen

I would really love a story about Alex not being evil. I'm extremely open to suggestions about how you go about that: whether he never joins Roger in the first place, joins but sees through his mentor at a certain point, or survives the duel with Alanna and redeems himself fighting for the king. Or any other idea you may have.

If that's not your cup of tea, then I'd love a story about Alex as a page or young squire before he meets Roger - getting up to shenanigans with friends, maybe, or saving the day with mathematics rather than strength, or starting his sword training.

SUMMERS AT CASTLE AUBURN
Nominated characters: Coriel Halsing, Kent Ouvrelet

Kent's POV on any of the book events would be interesting. He tries to warn Corie about the prince's true nature a number of times, but of course she doesn't see it until much later. How does he feel about the prospect of Bryan becoming king? At what point does he fall in love?

Alternatively, either of them after becoming monarchs. How is Kent's father taking their union? Do they ever give in to the temptation to visit Alora? How many children do they have? Do they outlaw the taking of Aliora as slaves?

SWALLOWS AND AMAZONS
Nominated characters: Susan Walker

This was a childhood fandom for me, and probably the beginning of my love affair with sailboats (fictional ones, anyway). I've asked for Susan because I enjoy the way she is the sensible one who always remembers to light a fire when people have been shipwrecked, or make Roger wear extra layers of clothing when going on an overnight raid. Which is to say, she gets to be sensible while still being adventurous, and she's respected by both the narrative and the other characters for it.

I'd like to see Susan saving the day in her own way - maybe she's the one who remembered to bring a key piece of equipment, or maybe there's a game of some sort where Susan is the one to notice the clue because she was paying attention. Or maybe a scene where the Great Aunt meets Susan and is reluctantly approving of her (because I think Susan probably has the best "company manners" of all the Swallows).

Any other characters are welcome to appear as needed. I have a soft spot for Captain Flint and Mrs Walker among the adults, and for Titty and Roger among the children. But they're all great, so I don't mind.

THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB SERIES
Nominated characters: any (Elizabeth, Joyce, Donna, Bogdan)

My most recent fandom, and I've only just today finished reading the most recent book, so fear no spoilers. Having said that, I cried my eyes out in several places during The Last Devil to Die (you probably know the parts), and I'd rather be a BIT more cheerful at Yuletide. So maybe don't focus on the sections about dementia, is what I'm saying.

For this fandom, canon-levels of violence are ok. If you want to write a murder investigation for the characters I will be wildly impressed, but I'd also love a cosy story with all of them sitting around Joyce's place drinking tea and eating vast quantities of Joyce's home-baked cake, possibly while Elizabeth and Bogdan swap stories about their past exploits.

My main request for this canon would be: whatever you write, please try to keep everyone in character. Let Joyce be her lovely gossipy, flirty self who can talk anyone into anything. Let Bogdan be tough, loyal, emotional, and kind (and really hot, as Donna would add). And so forth.

Feel free to add in any other series regulars such as Ron, Ibrahim, or Chris, but this is of course entirely optional.

THE TWO PRINCESSES OF BAMARRE
Nominated characters: any (Addie, Meryl, Rhys, Drualt)

Post-book adventures would be amazing! Addie and Meryl get together to talk about their respective battles. Fairy godmother Meryl and godfather Drualt turn up at the naming of Addie and Rhys' first child.

Alternatively, how did Meryl and Drualt manage to fall in love so quickly after meeting? Had he visited her fever-dreams previously, in between keeping an eye on Addie?

Rhys' view on the whole thing could be interesting, as a bit of an outsider. How does he feel, knowing that when Addie dies of old age, he'll just be reaching the point of entering a tower for the rest of his centuries. Is the tower compulsory? Maybe he discusses it with Meryl and Drualt, or maybe with Addie?

Also, if you'd like to have a go at some epic poetry in the style of the bits in the book, do feel free, I'd love to see it!
Hello, dear Yuletide author!

Thank you so much for writing for me this year! I'm sure I will love whatever you give me, but I've written up a few notes for you here in case you're the sort of person (like me) who likes to have some pointers to start with. Feel free to ignore them! (And hey, if there's a fic you're burning to write with the characters then GO AND WRITE THAT!)

Firstly, we'll get the DO NOT WANTs out of the way:
- No graphic sex please! I'm quite happy with fade-to-black or "overheard from the next room", but explicit scenes are very hit-or-miss for me. If you’re writing in a canon where sex scenes occur on the page (e.g. Scholomance), don’t go more explicit than the original text.
- No rape/non-con or incest elements please!
- No unhappy endings. Again, follow the lead of the canon you’re writing in here for how close to go with this: I would say that Scholomance and The Dark is Rising don’t have entirely happy endings but they end on a hopeful note for the future.

Now some GENERAL NOTES:
- Tropes I am fond of: found family, only one bed, cuddling for warmth, friends to lovers.
- I like gen and the canon ships in general, any fandom-specific shipping notes are below.
- Some fandoms below have a lot of notes and some have not so many. If I haven't written much about a fandom, it doesn't mean I don't want to get works written in it! It just means I couldn't think of so many ideas at the time of writing this letter.

And if you're here wondering if I like treats: YES PLEASE TO TREATS I LIKE THEM VERY MUCH.

THE CHRONICLES OF CHRESTOMANCI
Nominated characters: Millie, Christopher Chant, Conrad Tesdinic

The first book I read in the series was The Lives of Christopher Chant, so I was delighted when I first read Conrad's Fate to meet younger Christopher again. Having said that, I do very much enjoy the adult Christopher, so please feel free to write the characters at any age.

I would be quite happy to have other characters from the books make appearances, and some are mentioned in prompts, but there is of course no obligation to include them.

Younger ages: any missing scenes from the book with Christopher and Conrad working as Improvers and Millie pretending to be a maid. Maybe something back at the castle while Millie is recovering from her end-of-book illness? Shenanigans with the other students, Conrad getting along great with Gabriel de Witt while Christopher and Gabriel very much do not (mostly). The three of them learning their different styles of magic.

Missing years: What does happen at Christopher and Millie's wedding? Do they all keep in touch over the years, or do they reconnect later? At what age does Christopher take over as Chrestomanci, and what support do Millie and Conrad need to give? Maybe they all meet up at Elizabeth's wedding to Antonio Montana?

Older ages (Charmed Life etc): Christopher is summoned to Series Five? Conrad comes to the Castle to visit for Christmas (or other cultural holiday, but bonus points for excessive Victorian-style festivities). Janet falls head over heels in love with Conrad (as she did with Jason in The Pinhoe Egg) and has to be let down gently?

If you're shipping them, I like Christopher/Millie with or without Conrad/Christopher, or Conrad/Christopher/Millie is also lovely. Gen or pre-relationship are also great if you would rather. Just don't leave Millie out!

DARK IS RISING
Nominated characters: Barney, Bran, Jane, Will (Giver’s choice of characters)

I don't mind what character combination happens here: character study for a single character, missing scene from the books with two or three of them, post-canon fic with one or all of them - anything is fine. On reading this over, most of my prompts seem to be post-canon, so just to reassure you that pre-canon or missing scenes from the series would also be welcomed.

Jane, Jana, Juno, Jane - what happens to Jane after the books? How much does she remember of their adventures after they lose their memories? Does she remember seeing the Greenwitch on a mundane level, for instance, or does she dream about it and not know what it was? Or does the Afanc feature in an occasional nightmare, perhaps? What about her connection to the Lady?

Barney – the young artist might find some interesting imagery coming out in his work. Does he remember putting it there? Does his Arthurian interest continue into adulthood? The Dark was cast out of Time, but some of its servants may remain, and they have always been drawn to Barney…

Bran goes his whole life being “different” because of his albinism. Then within the space of a year he learns the truth of his birthright and his true difference, and then gives it all up. Is Merriman’s memory-wipe strong enough to erase all these very big emotions? Or does Bran find himself drawing on some new inner strength that he doesn’t quite understand. Does he dream of Arthur, and are they really just dreams?

Will – does he try to keep in touch with the others, or to deliberately lose touch with them? Do they seek him out? Of the “Five Shall Remain”, it seems to me that Barney, Bran and Jane could each in their own ways remember a connection to the Light. Perhaps Will finds himself increasingly ducking questions, redirecting conversations, and eventually having to decide how much to reveal.

If you want to ship, I’m fine with Bran/Jane, Bran/Will, or Bran/Will/Jane. Gen or pre-relationship are also fine.

ELEMENTAL BLESSINGS
Nominated characters: Any

I really enjoy these books, and if you want to explore the worldbuilding side I’d be very happy to read more. I always like any scenes where characters are drawing blessings.

Perhaps Corene does become a special ambassador and visits more different countries. I’d like to read about Corene visiting Melissande and Jiramondi, maybe for their wedding.

Or what about the missing scene after Troubled Waters where Zoe’s trader friends bring Josetta and Corene to Zoe’s Lalindar house, and Zoe and Darien will have to tell them the secret of their parentage.

MAGIDS SERIES
Nominated characters: Alexandra

I was fascinated to see High Lady Alexandra in the tagset this year, so my request is for a fic that definitely includes her, and may include other characters or not as you see fit.

What was her backstory like before marrying the emperor? Is Rupert’s speculation correct that High Ladies are chosen for their good looks to please the emperor, and how does it match up with Alexandra’s own observation that the emperor “didn’t like women much”?

How do things progress with her and Dakros? We only see a little of it through the book but they seem to have a strong, developing relationship despite all the chaos they’re dealing with.

How does Koryfos’ return change things for her? What is her new role going to be - advisor to the emperor and/or his heir? Or would she rather retire?

Does Maree get to meet Alexandra properly, either before or after becoming a Magid? She’s apprenticed to Rupert’s brother Simon, after all, and he becomes the Koryfonic Magid.

Parallels between Alexandra and Dakros learning to live/work together, and Rupert/Maree doing the same?

MISS MARPLE
Nominated characters: Mary Dove, Lucy Eyelesbarrow

Lucy Eyelesbarrow features in 4:50 from Paddington, one of my favourite Marple books. I always like the fact that she is a very intelligent, educated woman who could have gone into academia (mathematics, if I recall) but instead used her considerable intelligence to become extremely successful at a job she enjoys. By the end of the book she's assisted Miss Marple to solve the mystery, and has a string of eligible men trailing after her hoping for her hand in marriage.

Mary Dove features in A Pocket Full of Rye, which I enjoy much less as a book, but I do enjoy her as a character. She's a highly intelligent woman who has become very successful in her profession as a housekeeper and who has a string of satisfied references... from houses which were professionally burgled some time after she left. There's no evidence, because she's just that good at it.

So we have here two of the most perfect housekeepers in Miss Marple's books, but with very different motivations. What would happen if they met - at their club, or socially? What if Lucy is working somewhere that Mary was formerly employed, and they meet when Mary comes back to pilfer the place?

Ship them together if you want, or don't.

SCHOLOMANCE
Nominated characters: El, Chloe, Ophelia, Balthasar (giver’s choice)

Ok, so HOW does someone like Chloe cope with finding out about the enclaves/mawmouths? Does she stay with the safety and security represented by New York, or does she become one who walks away from Omelas?

And how does Balthasar, who seems like such a nice, normal type of person, reconcile himself with everything Ophelia does? He’s not a maleficer, but apparently he completely supports his wife in all her horrible plans.

And Ophelia is just… the WORST. In a very “greater good”, “ends justify the means” way. She and El are certainly going to have an interesting time ahead of them, which I would be fascinated to see any snippets of.

Given everything in the books (especially Golden Enclaves), I don't know that El and Orion will end up having kids, but what if they DID? Balthasar would pretty clearly be over the moon at the idea of grandkids, and of Orion getting to become a parent (such a normal life experience, so wonderful for him). How would Ophelia react? Would she see a potential weapon to be turned to her use, a potential enemy to destroy/control, or just a future grandkid?

Other characters are welcome to appear as needed, as is worldbuilding. Levels of violence should not exceed canon, which, given that it’s a canon that includes mawmouths, should not be difficult.
Hello, dear Purimgifts creator!

Thank you so much for creating for me this year.

If you would like some of my thoughts and prompts on our mutual fandoms, read on below. On the other hand, feel free to ignore them and write the story you are enthusiastic about - I'm quite sure I will love whatever you produce!

Fandoms:

A Countess Below Stairs
I will love you forever if you give me Leo Rabinowitz, Susie and Tom, and/or the Honourable Olive in ANY combination or setting. Otherwise I adore Anna being her inimitable self, Minna Byrne being quietly practical, the servants being quietly awesome, Rupert's mum communing with the spirits... heaps to choose from!

Amelia Peabody
Amelia herself is so amazing, but there are so many other women who do awesome things in these books. Evelyn mixing her roles of artist, wife, mother, part-time arse-kicker? Nefret's medical training? Katherine Vandergelt - I adore her backstory of "semi-villain and con-artist medium", and her friendship with Amelia is lovely. Does she ever meet Evelyn? (I haven't read the last few books in the series, so maybe avoid anything specifically set after Ramses gets married.)

Anne of Green Gables
I really like Anne and her various female friend groups throughout the books - Story Club shenanigans with Diana, Jane and Ruby, college escapades with Phil, Priscilla and Stella? Or heart-to-hearts with Miss Stacy or Mrs Allen? Otherwise Anne's daughters and their friends would be lovely to read about also. (Please keep to book-canon rather than Anne with an E TV canon, for preference!)

Ballet Shoes
Missing scenes or future adventures for any the girls would be great. Otherwise, what about some backstories for the doctors or Theo? What was it like for Sylvia growing up in Gum's house with her widowed mother and Nana? I'm thinking that the doctors (either or both) could be Jewish, if you want to consider that one. Maybe some of the snacks they have mid-morning are traditional Jewish foods? Or maybe Petrova's birth family were Russian Jews, and she later explores her heritage?

Check Please!
Denise "foxtrot" Ford is the musical-theatre loving, vintage-clothing wearing, terrifyingly organised darling of my heart, so anything with her would be amazing. Also Bitty's family has lots of strong-minded women (Suzanne, Aunt Judy, Moomaw) and I'd love to hear more about them. I can't remember offhand if any characters are canonically Jewish (Holster maybe?) but go right ahead and create some if you want to explore that side of things.

The Chronicles of Chrestomanci
Millie is awesome, anything with her at whatever age. Maybe hanging out with Elizabeth (Tonino's mum)? Or as a child with Mother Proudfoot? Or as an adult sorting out problems at the Castle? OTherwise it would be lovely to see more or the Witch Week characters.

Dark is Rising
Jane, Jana, Juno, Jane - what happens to Jane after the books? How much does she remember of their adventures after they lose their memories? Does she remember seeing the Greenwitch on a mundane level, for instance, or does she dream about it and not know what it was? Alternatively, what about a story about Will's sisters - Barbara especially always seemed like such a nice person. Or do feel free to create OC Old Ones - I'm sure some of them were Jewish, over the centuries.

Discworld
Huge, HUGE range of characters to pick from here. Susan, Lady Sybil, Cheery Littlebottom, Adora Belle Dearheart and Magrat are some of my favourites, so a story about any of those would be great. Monstrous Regiment is a book I adore as a whole, maybe explore what happened to any of the characters afterwards?

Enchanted Forest
Any stories about Morwen in the Enchanted forest dealing with magical problems in a practical way will be received with great affection. Seriously, I love Morwen. Also Cimorene, Alianora, Kazul, Morwen's cats and fellow witches... Throw in as many magical shenanigans as you like! If you want to throw in something like the Frying Pan of Doom, well... bonus points, I guess. :)

Good Omens (Book and TV)
I've listed both of these, but feel free to follow the common fandom practice of borrowing from each of them. I like the choices the TV show made, but I've been a fan of the book for years, so *shrugs* either/or, really. Having said that, if you write me a Jewish Greasy Johnson (book character) I will probably faint with delight. Otherwise Madame Tracy, Anathema, Pepper, Pepper's mum, Sister Mary Loquacious aka Mary Hodges... interacting in any capacity at all would be lovely. And of course Crowley and Aziraphale would be more than welcome.

Howl series
So I really like Sophie, but I also love her sisters. Especially Martha, even though we don't see her much, because her life choices are just so interesting. Also love Princess Beatrice - so practical! How did she learn to darn socks, anyway?? And honestly, I really relate to Charmain getting lost in books and forgetting about everything.

Lord of the Rings
Eowyn! Rosie Cotton! Ioreth! Galadriel and Arwen! aaaand, that's about all the female characters I can think of here, this is not a fandom overly supplied with them. Feel free to invent more. I love Middle-Earth as a setting, so anything exploring that will be lovely. I've also read some great fan-canon with Jewish Dwarves in Middle Earth, so exploring that further would be interesting.

Lord Peter Wimsey
An absolute plethora of interesting women here: the Dowager Duchess, Lady Mary, the Shrewsbury dons, Eiluned and Sylvia, Marjorie Phelps, Miss Climpson, Miss Murchison... and of course, not forgetting Harriet. Harriet meeting Miss Climpson would be fun to read, or what about some domestic bits with the Dowager and Lady Mary? Marjorie, Eiluned and Sylvia in Bloomsbury shenanigans? Harriet as a student at Shrewsbury in an interview with the Dean? Or how about exploring some of the canonically Jewish characters like Rachel Arbuthnot (nee Levy) and her family?

Tortall
(FYI I haven't yet read the recent Numair.) Song of the Lioness, Protector of the Small, and Provost's Dog are probably my favourite series' - I love the main characters in each of them. Beka with Achoo, or with Kora and Aniki, or Goodwin. Maybe Alanna with the Bazhir - how are Kara and Kourrem going as shamans? Or Kel being patient and grumpy and organised and caring with her refugees, or dropping in to Lalasa's self-defence classes, or just hanging out with her Yamani friends.

Now some GENERAL NOTES:
- Tropes I am fond of: found family, only one bed, cuddling for warmth, friends to lovers
- A happy ending would be great, but if you want to put characters though hell in the meantime be my guest. ;)
- I like the canon ships in general but some fandom-specific shipping notes are below.

And if you're here wondering if I like treats: YES PLEASE TO TREATS I LIKE THEM VERY MUCH.

On to the fandoms!

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES
Anne Shirley, Philippa Gordon, Priscilla Grant, Stella Maynard

I have read Anne of the Island a number of times, and while I always enjoy it, it does irritate me a little that the content of the book is so skewed towards the first year and any other time Gilbert shows up. I'm here for the friend circle!

These four spend three years living together in a very small house while they're at college. Consider the quantity of potential for missing scenes: playing pranks, getting into scrapes, and/or learning valuable lessons.

How does Phil learn to go to market? Any comedic misadventures that she has with her chronic indecision? Pris and Stella share a room, how does this go for them? (Squabbles? Bosom friends? Romance?) Does Anne have anything happen like her earlier liniment cake, green hair, carpet-dye nose etc? And do they remember to putty up the wallpaper holes before they leave?

Go for it on shipping here - I know three out of the four canonically later marry various men, but feel free to ignore this fact in favour of friends-to-lovers, bisexuality, lesbians, experimentation etc. Or keeping it as close heterosexual friends is also fine.

CADFAEL
Brother Mark, Abbot Radulfus, Aline Beringar, Brother Cadfael, Hugh Beringar, Sister Magdalen

Saint Peter's Fair was the first Cadfael book I read and it remains one of my favourites. On the other hand Sister Magdalen is hands down my favourite series character. So literally any character combination would be fine here.

Radulfus and Magdalen and Hugh all have a great mutual respect for their different domains, as seen in Dead Man's Ransom - I'd like to see them work together on something. Aline and Mark are both so sweet but strong in their own ways, I think they'd also respect each other if they got the chance, although Mark would need to get past his initial worry of talking to women. Or maybe Aline and Magdalen could finally meet?

Case fic would be lovely, but character-focus as per the books would be great.

In this case canon ships only please. I'd rather not have cloistered religious characters involved in romantic relationships, although references to Cadfael's past loves are fine.

CHRESTOMANCI
Christopher Chant, Conrad Tesdinic, Millie

Well, the first book I read in the series was The Lives of Christopher Chant, so I was delighted when I first read Conrad's Fate to meet younger Christopher again.

Missing scenes from the book with Christopher and Conrad working as Improvers or Millie pretending to be a maid? Maybe something back at the castle while Millie is recovering from her end-of-book illness? Adventures with some of the other students? And what does happen at Christopher and Millie's wedding? Do feel free to include Gabriel deWitt or other Castle residents if your story asks for it.

I would prefer the younger versions of the characters (i.e. not Charmed Life era) but if you have a good idea for the older versions then I will certainly still enjoy it!

Shipping here should be Christopher/Millie but may also be Conrad/Christopher or Conrad/Christopher/Millie. Or it may be Gen or pre-relationship if you would rather. Just don't leave Millie out!

MISS MARPLE
Jane Marple, Jerry Burton, Joanna Burton, Megan Hunter

The Moving Finger, again, is one of my favourite Miss Marple books, so any missing scenes or follow-ons would be most gratefully received. I am most interested in Jerry and Megan who always struck me as having a very nice friendship with lots of mutual interests besides being in love. I also enjoy Jerry and Joanna's excellent depiction of sibling squabbling/support. Miss Marple may be regarded as optional to include, especially if it's a post-book scene.

Special note: I see that Maud Dane Calthrop is listed in the tag set but only under Poirot. I love her in the Moving Finger and would be most happy to have her present in your story if you wish.

ORDINARY PRINCESS
Amy, Peregrine

My absolute number one favourite childhood book, I can still quote quite large amounts of it.

Maybe some missing scenes around the palace or other excursions to the forest? Or we could see Perry actually being presented with that awful portrait of Amy, how does he keep a straight face?! Post-canon, how do Perry and Amy settle into being King and Queen/married? Do they still sneak into banquet halls occasionally to eat leftover icecream? Do Amy's sisters come to visit and are terribly puzzled at their sister's unconventional but happy marriage?

SWALLOWS AND AMAZONS
John Walker, Nancy Blackett, Peggy Blackett, Susan Walker

There are a few points in the books where the kids meet up after a year/two and the older ones settle in for a good long talk, much to the irritation of the younger ones who want to be getting on with adventures! The narrative implies that they're talking about school and other such native things, but are they? Or maybe a future fic with the older characters interacting on holiday as adults?

Titty and Roger are of course welcome to cameo, but I could only list four characters :)

Feel free to hint at future John/Nancy or Peggy/Susan.

Katherine Vandergelt PLEASE - I adore her backstory of "semi-villain and con-artist medium", and her friendship with Amelia is lovely. Does she ever meet Evelyn?

Emelan
I love all the ladies in the main cast, so feel free to pick and choose. Sandry and Lark working on threadcraft - maybe Sandry teaching Lark a new craft? Tris being grumpy bookworm, or maybe helping Rosethorn out by bringing a little rain to the garden? Anything at all with Lark and Rosethorn together - how did they meet/fall in love? I'm not sure how you'd go about having Jewish characters in Emelan (the religious worldbuilding is so tightly written already), but if you have an idea, I'd love to see it!

Fangirl
Cather is basically me, to a ridiculous extent. ANYTHING with Cath will be much loved. Have her interacting with Reagan, with Wren, meeting Levi's sisters and mother, in an imaginary dialogue with Penelope Bunce... literally anything. Alternatively, Reagan is awesome, and I really like Cath's writing professor - what about something from their POVs?

Good Omens (Book and TV)
I've listed both of these, but feel free to follow the common fandom practice of borrowing from each of them. I like the choices the TV show made, but I've been a fan of the book for years, so *shrugs* either/or, really. Harriet as a student at Shrewsbury in an interview with the Dean? Or how about exploring some of the canonically Jewish characters like Rachel Arbuthnot (nee Levy) and her family?

Rivers of London
I love Bev and her family, so any River-related shenanigans would be great. Or what about Abigail - any more ghost-hunting? What's the deal with the foxes, anyway? OR, maybe a story with Molly and Foxglove settling into the Folly?

Spinning Silver
Show me some more of Miryem and her family - maybe her childhood, or more about her grandparents? Does Wanda ever meet Irina? Or more of the Staryk, Rebakah bat Fleck perhaps?

Tortall
FYI I haven't yet read the Numair book. Song of the Lioness, Protector of the Small, and Provost's Dog are probably my favourite series' - I love the main characters in each of them. Show me some of Beka with Achoo, or with Kora and Aniki, or Goodwin. Show me Alanna with the Bazhir - how are Kara and Kourrem going as shamans? Show me Kel being patient and grumpy and organised and caring with her refugees, or dropping in to Lalasa's self-defence classes.
Hello, dear Yuletide author!

(I just set up this account to put my letter up, so apologies if the formatting goes weird or anything)

Thank you so much for writing for me this year! I'm sure I will love whatever you give me, but I've written up a few notes for you here in case you're the sort of person (like me) who likes to have some pointers to start with. Feel free to ignore them! (And hey, if there's a fic you're burning to write with the characters then WRITE THAT!)

Firstly, we'll get the DO NOT WANTs out of the way:
- No graphic sex please! I'm quite happy with fade-to-black or "overheard from the next room", but explicit scenes are very hit-or-miss for me.
- Following on from the above: No rape/non-con or incest elements please! Again, these are things I'm prepared to

Now some GENERAL NOTES:
- A happy ending would be great, but if you want to put characters though hell in the meantime be my guest, the original author probably did worse. ;)
- The fandom specific notes can be taken or left as you wish - I've put some ideas in in case you want a pointer, but if you get an idea in another direction go for it!
- I like the canon ships in general but some fandom-specific shipping notes are below.

On to the fandoms!

DERKHOLM

Elda, Claudia, Olga, Flury

Flury actually appearing is kind of optional here - he's such a quiet character it's a bit hard to come up with ideas for him (as I learned, trying to write these prompts). So if you have a similar problem, feel free to omit him.

In the book, Flury is constantly annoying Elda by being meek and humble, so... more courting differences? Elda was raised by humans and never learned griffin courting, so does Flury keeps trying to court Elda and failing worse each time? For that matter, does Elda even like Flury? I'm good either way.

How about a team-up project with Olga and Cludia? Olga's air elementals and Claudia's travel magic lead to them inventing some way to fly, which is going great until...? And then Elda and Flury have to team up to help get them out of trouble... or into more trouble.

Honestly you could pick the corniest teen movie trope and write it with these characters and I'd still love it. Elda, Olga and Claudia have a class project and badger Flury for his help?

The hints of future Elda/Flury and Claudia/Blade at the end of the book can be explored or ignored as you wish.

Any of Elda's various family members, classmates and teachers are welcome to cameo if you feel like having them. Olga's father is decidedly not welcome (I had enough of him in the book) but if you want to explore Olga's recovery from trauma then go for it!

FIRE AND HEMLOCK

Polly, Fiona, Granny, Tom

Any combination of characters would be fine.

I was thinking about how in the world Polly is going to explain everything to Fiona after the events of the book, and then I thought: for that matter, how's she going to explain to GRANNY?

I'd quite like Tom to actually meet Fiona and her to be soundly unimpressed (but at least he's better than Seb, she says to Polly later)

Or maybe a conversation between Fiona and Granny before Polly and Fiona go off to uni, because they've both noticed Polly's been a bit odd lately. It's laid on Granny not to tell, but no-one's laid anything on Fiona...

Polly/Tom should be regarded as optional - I feel as though they have a lot to work through before they can really have a relationship, not least of which is Laurel's prohibition on any such thing happening, but I'm not against the idea!

JEEVES

Bertie, Jeeves, Gussie, Madeline

Gussie gets Bertie into strife with Madeline, Jeeves saves the day. (How many Wodehouse books could this be a summary for, I wonder?)

I tried to come up with prompts for this but they all ended up sounding like: "Bertie disguises himself in order to get a compromising letter back from a Hampshire Newt-Fancier who Gussie wrote to in a moment of misguided passion, ONLY TO FIND that Madeline Bassett is the HNF's girlhood chum" and so on, SO BASICALLY write what you like, these four characters can only end in shenanigans.

Bonus points: Bertie has an item of clothing/musical instrument/accessory that Jeeves finds objectionable; poetic misquotation; incoherent telegrams.

Jeeves and Bertie can be in a relationship or not, I like both.

MAGIDS

Maree, Rupert, Nick, Rick Corrie

Any combination of these characters would be fine. Maree is my favourite though. :)

There's a scene in the book where Maree is talking to Rick and he buys her a drink and is quite startled to find she's actually 20 rather than early-teens like Nick, and they nerd out over their shared love of horror fantasy. And then when you get that same scene from Rupert's POV he sees this happen and thinks Rick fancies Maree and wow what terrible taste he must have. So I wondered what might have been going on in Rick's mind during that scene - was he flirting? being kind to someone who looked lonely? just having a nice sit-down in between crises?

Incidentally... what DOES Rick Corrie remember of the convention? Does he run into Rupert and Maree some time later and have one of those "how do I know those two, there's this weird gap in my mind from living on a Naywards world" moments? Or what was his view of the convention happenings at the time?

Maree and Rupert settle in to life on the farm, but how is living together going? Maree's messy, plus she's trotting off for Magid lessons and he's left with all these animals she keeps acquiring AND a visiting Nick, who is no help at all.

Nick causes weird stuff to happen and Maree and Rupert have to go sort it out, Rick Corrie gets swept up in it.

Any of Rupert's or Maree's extended family are welcome to appear also.

RIVERS OF LONDON

Molly, Foxglove, Thomas, Abigail

A bit of Folly dynamic would be amazing with these four.

Thomas and Molly have been there for years, while Abigail and Foxglove are quite new - how do they learn to work together?

Does Abigail learn some of her fox-magic from the two Fae ladies, with Thomas having to translate a bit? What is Foxglove's view on the Folly and the wizards?

Alternatively, something comes up while Peter is off with Bev and these four need to sort it out by pooling their knowledge/abilities/powers.

FYI: I haven't yet read October Man or Water Weed.

Cameos from other Folly habitues are welcome.

LORD PETER WIMSEY

Harriet, Miss Martin, Hilary Thorpe

I really just want to see these three interacting!

Perhaps Harriet has Hilary and Miss Martin to tea as Hilary is considering options for university study.

Or maybe Harriet visits Shrewsbury while Hilary is a student and Miss Martin needs her help with a(nother) College Mystery.

Since Hilary also wants to be a writer, do she and Harriet collaborate on a book at some point?

Or perhaps Hilary has written a book and Harriet gets asked to do one of those "Foreword by the distinguished author in the field", which she hates doing but Hilary being her husband's protegee, she can't really say no...

Other Faculty and Family are welcome to appear.
